Ideal for use in ships’ flooring, stair tread of gangway, catway, pump room, engine room, etc.
Plain style grating consists of twisted square cross bars and plain bearing bars. Bearing bars are laid parallel to each other at 1-3/16" pitch, and cross bars are arranged in 4" pitch vertically to the bearing bars. The contact points of bearing bars and cross bars are electro forged by welding. 1. Bearing Bars: Load carrying members which run between the supports and rest directly on them and which are parallel to each other. 2. Cross Bars: Connecting members which run across bearing bars in a perpendicular direction. Twisted 1/4" x 1/4" square bars are used as cross bars in all types of plain style grating. 3. Pitch of Cross Bars: Pitch means the distance center to center of each cross bar. The pitch is 4" for every type. The distance from the outer end of the bearing bar to the next cross bar is 2". 4. Pitch of Bearing Bars: The pitch is the distance from center to center of each bearing bar. The pitch is 1-3/16" whether the thickness of the bearing bar is 3/16" or 1/8". 5. Width & Length of the Gratings: No matter what size of grating it may be, the direction in which the bearing bars run is referred to as the length, and direction in which the cross bars run is referred to as the width. Most common plain style sizes are as follows and are available as ready made stock. Besides the above sizes, a wide variety of sizes are available. When ordering, please specify the following points to avoid errors and delays. 1. Type of Grating 2. Size of Bearing Bar 3. Dimensions (Width x Length) 4. Number of Gratings 5.
